Introduction
If you are a parent or legal guardian of children in El Salvador, Guatemala, or Honduras, you may qualify for the Central American Minors (CAM) program to allow them to lawfully enter and live in the United States. Your child may be able to access this program if:
YOU are:
- A parent or legal guardian lawfully present in the United States with:
- Lawful permanent residence (a green card);
- Temporary Protected Status (TPS);
- Parole (for a minimum of one year);
- Deferred action (including DACA) (for a minimum of one year);
- Deferred Enforced Departure (DED);
- Withholding of removal; or
- A pending application for asylum, a U visa, or a T visa filed on or before April 11, 2023.
YOUR CHILD is:
- Your biological/genetic, step, or legally adopted child;
- Unmarried;
- Under the age of 21;
- Physically located in El Salvador, Guatemala, or Honduras, and
- A national of El Salvador, Guatemala, or Honduras.
In some cases, additional qualifying family members may also be eligible.
How can you apply for the program?
New applications are now being accepted. For help applying for the Central American Minors program, contact a designated resettlement agency in the United States. There is no fee to apply for the CAM program and no one may charge you to complete the application.
Additionally, Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) has partnered with the International Rescue Committee to provide free assistance to parents and legal guardians who are seeking to bring their children to the United States under the CAM program.
