Guide to Organizing an Immigration Community Meeting

To learn how to use ILRC's Basic Immigration Information Packets at community meetings, read our Guide to Organizing an Immigration Community Meeting, available below. The following is an overview of how to produce, use and update the packets:

Quick View of Guide:
  1. Reproducing packet for community meetings: We recommend reproducing one for each family expected at the meeting. There are versions in Spanish and English. We suggest copying it on 2-sided paper, stapled.
  2. There is only one page that should be updated monthly. You can find it by searching for "Fechas" in Spanish , or "dates" in the English packet. The page reproduces relevant portions of the VISA BULLETIN and is titled in Spanish: "FECHAS DE PRIORIDAD PARA VISAS FAMILIARES DE INMIGRANTE" You need to insert the current priority dates for the different preference categories. The current Visa Bulletin is available on the Internet at http://visalaw.com/visa_bulletin.html
  3. Sample Presentation Using the Packet: Here is a sample presentation in terms of topics covered. This presentation will take about 40-minutes without questions.
