Matching gifts
Many companies match charitable contributions given to nonprofit organizations by their employees, board members, employee’s spouses, and/or retirees. Your company may match half of your gift, double your gift, or in some cases triple your gift to the ILRC. Take advantage of your company’s matching gift program by completing the required matching-gift form provided by your company and send it with your gift (if making your donation by mail) or provide your employer’s name in the “Donation Options” section (if making your donation online.) Your matching gift coordinator or human resources office can direct you to the appropriate forms. If you have any questions about matching gifts, please contact Edith Hong, Director of Development, at (415) 255-9499 ext. 466.

Circle of Friends
The ILRC Circle of Friends is a membership group of leadership and major gift level donors. These donors have a higher level of investment in the work of the ILRC and receive invitations to special Circle of Friends events, ILRC updates, and more prominent recognition in ILRC’s printed materials such as the newsletter and annual report. Any contribution of $500 or more will automatically enroll you into the ILRC’s Circle of Friends. Monthly Giving Club pledges in the amount of $500 or more also will automatically enroll you into the ILRC’s Circle of Friends. If you’re interested in learning more please contact Edith Hong, Director of Development, at (415) 255-9499 ext. 466.
The Phillip Burton Immigration and Civil Rights Awards
Each year the ILRC proudly honors individuals in the immigrant legal community for their work on behalf of immigrants. The Phillip Burton Awards allow the ILRC and the community at large to celebrate leaders whose work positively affects our society. Named after Phillip Burton, U.S. Representative from California (1964-1983) the award recognizes others who carry on Congressman Burton’s legacy in support of immigrants and human rights.
- The award for Immigration Advocacy is presented to the individual who has shown exemplary leadership and commitment through their advocacy, education and organizing work on behalf of immigrants and immigrant communities.
- The award for Immigration Policy is presented to the individual who has made a significant contribution to immigration and/or civil rights policy.
- The award for Immigration Lawyering is presented to the individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment in representing immigrant clients.

Workplace giving
Workplace giving campaigns offer the convenience of giving to one agency that then disperses the gifts to the organizations you designate. Options for giving include a one-time gift or a year-long pledge that is automatically deducted from your paycheck each pay period.
Planned giving
Planned giving refers to the donation of assets to one or more nonprofit organizations. Planned giving most often involves a professional advisor and attorney and requires a great amount of thought and planning. In deciding to make a planned gift, there are many factors to consider including your lifetime income needs, the needs of dependent family and friends, and the use of your money after your death. Carefully structured planned gifts can help to sustain the important work of the ILRC on behalf of immigrants and immigrant communities while simultaneously providing many benefits to you. The benefits of making a planned gift can include:
- Charitable tax-deductions that reduce your income tax
- Avoiding capital gains tax on appreciated securities
- A legacy in honor of your loved one or family
The ILRC provides a number of quick and easy options for making a gift online. All online contributions are secure and confidential. Simply fill in or select a donation amount below and submit!
